About us

The UK Anonymisation Network (UKAN) was set up in 2012 as a means of establishing best practice in anonymisation. It offers practical advice and information to anyone who handles personal data and needs to share it.

UKAN was funded for its first two years by the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). It is co-ordinated by a consortium of four organisations: the University of Manchester, the University of Southampton, the Open Data Institute (ODI) and Office for National Statistics (ONS).
